£1,100 for Wet Wheels Charity
Thanks to 2 local sailing clubs we were able to hand over a bucket full of cash to Wet Wheels – the charity that gets disabled people out on the water.
First up was Lee-on-the-Solent SC where we did 2 hour long sets punctuated by beer breaks and a free raffle for a bottle of Captain Morgan rum – this followed our rendition of Captain Morgan, one of our favourites. The place was packed and there were some fine voices joining in with our songs. The roof was raised, as was a load of money for the charity.
Not to be outdone, Warsash SC wanted something similar – even down to the bottle of rum. Reps from Wet Wheels were on hand to persuade people to fill the bucket. The beer flowed (and a couple of freebies for the Buoys helped) and soon even the bar hangers were singing along.
Our services were free so all the money raised went to the charity raising money for a good cause and having fun – what could be better?
